Arthur Schaef

Mr. A. W. Schaef’s 35 h.p. Anzani monoplane (built by himself.) at the Newton Park (Wellington) Aviation Meeting on March 24th.

This machine carried out the preliminary flight tests at Lyall Bay, Wellington, in March last year, when it flew about 20 ft. above water for a short time. Mr Schaef constructed the monoplane and its propeller in a workshop near Lyall Bay in 1909, without any knowledge or experience other than that he obtained from the pages of ‘FLIGHT’ magazines.
